365 pictures

Three days ago I decided I wanted to do the "picture every day for a year" thing - better known as Project 365 I suppose. This frog hand sanitizer gave me the inspiration. I know, I'm weird, it's like I'm a mom or something.... the thing is there are many moments in my life as my kids are growing and my business is rolling that I want to remember; random things, everyday things. This is not a project I'm putting online, everyday I plan to take a picture and print a 4x6 for an album I'll keep. My husband has decided to join me too! I'll send you a sneak peek every so often. Wish me luck!!!

Taking/editing some pictures for my friend with her creations over at Zeloudesigns.etsy.com. Etsy is growing quickly with new sellers all the time and pictures are important if you want to stand apart from the pack. We're working on the context of her product photos, looking to move toward metro. It's a fun project!

on vacation

I'm back from the Ruby Mountains with pictures and inspiration but I'n NOT rested yet. Camping with two kids in a tent for a week is a lot of fun and a lot of work! I'm still on vacation until Monday the 22nd so I'll see you then!

4 days old

I'm not a pro photographer but doesn't it look like so much fun!? So when my best friend had a baby this week I got first in line for baby pics, mainly because I come for free! This is my new love, Edison John.

Taking pictures of a 4 day old is FUNNY! He just about slept through the whole thing while we poked and twisted and sat and laid and flipped and dressed. I would have done Calli's but with a C-section I could barely move for two weeks and I missed the sleepy glory days - this made up for it!

Calli was just too cute today, I had to take more pictures! 

And I'm so excited that I booked a family shoot with my friend Athena in two weeks! We've only taken family portraits with a tripod.... like two years ago. We need help!!

Plus I got Mavora in the new My Wedding Library Cube! That's me - top right - Tada!

oooohh - real wedding! This is the Barkley's wedding in Graeagle, CA. shot by Joy Wong. Her night shot is really great. I love the hanging lights over an outdoor dance floor! And the blue and white bridesmaids dresses - good taste. Joy is a great photographer if you're in California. Thanks for sharing Joy!

wrapped up in pretty things

Sorry my stores are mainly closed right now - I am completely booked considering I have 20 clients, two small kids, another part time job, and I do enjoy sleeping regularly. I plan to open the wedding store back up again tomorrow or Saturday and my design store next week sometime. I just wanted to share a few cute things I've been busy with.

I really like the way Elise's tag came out this week - we went with browns and purples.

I also enjoyed taking some snowy pictures two weeks ago for a lovely gal in Aberdeen, Scotland. She is soon to be Mrs. Lemmon and commissioned me to take this picture in Reno for a gift to her future husband. I can't say no to that! I'm much too romantic! Of course it didn't seem romantic when I was shuffling down a super icy sidewalk on a street corner with my camera pointed at....well nothing...just a street sign! I felt a bit odd but it turned out well. 

The winter days we've had were beautiful here but I've been very happy with the last two super warm weeks. It makes running a lot easier that's for sure! I'm training for a half marathon in May. Wish me luck!

I just created a new banner for "hand knit by cara" on etsy this morning.

I LOVE her stuff and she's super sweet. Buy all your baby photo stuff from her. And I say this because I ordered a hat for Calli from another seller and the hat never showed up! Major bummer. I like this new gal.

I just got back from my sister-in-law's wedding in Idaho. I can't wait to get to the pictures and some stories from the weekend but first -- client, clients, clients! Happy Monday!

Check it out! I inspired myself with my blog post this morning. I got a few super cute shots of my kids. My nemesis Lighting was still a problem so I have some blur problems but it'll do for me and my living room wall. I have one umbrella light and shoot in raw for the best tweaking. I need to figure out a better shutter speed or something because my kids will never stop wiggling. Ah photography you are so fun when I don't have work. Good day!
